Culture of Life Lies, Volume III (Tom Monaghan Edition)

Hey look, we Catholics are getting our own Jonestown!!!

It turns out that Dominos Pizza founder Thomas Monaghan is a huge Catholic wingnut. Tommy-Two-Pies-For-$15.99 has helped bankroll the domestic terrorist organization "Operation Rescue" for years, set up his own law school, and is now building his own private town in Florida.

Only, it turns out Tommy-Three-Toppings-for-$17.99 didn't realize you can't just build a town and keep out businesses that sell contraception, ban pornography altogether, and restrict ownership to Catholics (or any other religious group for that matter).

And, I'm guessing, they wouldn't want any of this:

Here's a precious quote:

“I thought we owned the real estate, so we can lease to whoever we want and put things in the contract, but there are laws and there were lawsuits out there,” Monaghan said.

Well given that Tommy-Stuffed-Crust has claimed that "the town would be governed by Roman Catholic principles", he might wanna, you know, consult those principles from time to time. Although, to be fair to Tommy-Three-Cheese, the Church hides those principles pretty well in a 928 page tome called The Catechism of the Catholic Church!!!

If Tommy-Deep-Dish could stop counting his pizza money long enough to crack open the Catechism, he might learn that:

1935 The equality of men rests essentially on their dignity as persons and the rights that flow from it:

Every form of social or cultural discrimination in fundamental personal rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion must be curbed and eradicated as incompatible with God's design.40

Oh, and those pesky "laws" that Tommy-Tomato-Pie (who owns a fucking law school!!!) wasn't aware of? Yeah, those are provided for in the Catechism too:

2406 Political authority has the right and duty to regulate the legitimate exercise of the right to ownership for the sake of the common good.188

Thanks to Zuzu, by way of LGM to the link.

(oh, and a quick stroll through Googleville on "ave maria lawschool" and "monaghan" will show you the controversy created when Tommy-Breadsticks moved the lawschool, and other shenanigans.
