Because they're stone-cold idiots.

hat's right.  The good people of the state of Wisconsin wouldn't have to cough up a single additional dime for this shiny new project that would bring a shitload of construction jobs and make travel easier between the principal cities.  It would also be a good investment in the future, set against the day when gas will cost a kidney a gallon. 

The rail line was originally proposed by former governor Tommy Thompson, a Republican who was a member of the Bush Administration cabinet (Secretary of HHS). 

And now it's dead.

Why?

That dumb motherfucker Scott Walker.  He's promised to kill the project, because, according to him, that money would be better spent on roads.
