So, Britney Spears managed to tear herself away from the buffet and cocaine lines in Las Vegas last night to open the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.

Now, since it was Vegas, I suppose this could've been an homage to the overweight-couldn't-sing-couldn't-dance-Vegas-Elvis phase. In which case, it was brilliant. The only thing missing was the sequined cape and the karate kicks.

Otherwise, it was just really sad.
